Regional Safety Manager
The Regional Safety Manager at SRS Heritage Group serves a critical role in advancing safety and compliance across the Heritage Pool division, by developing and implementing safety policies that align with State, Local, Federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations. This position demands a strategic partnership with District and Branch Managers to promote safety awareness and ensure compliance with safety protocols, thereby fostering an environment of safety excellence within the organization. The RSM is responsible for performing incident investigations, conducting operator safety training, and ensuring comprehensive safety compliance, ultimately safeguarding the well-being of all employees and enhancing the operational effectiveness of Heritage Pool's safety programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and continuous improvement of all safety policies and procedures across the assigned region, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with State, Local, Federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations across all branches, proactively identifying areas for enhancement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Oversee the currency and effectiveness of operator safety training programs for existing employees, facilitating professional development and ensuring industry-best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date OSHA logs and incident reports using the Origami platform, supporting transparency and informed decision-making throughout the organization.
- Conduct detailed incident and accident investigations to identify root causes, develop mitigation strategies, and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with branch management to design and sustain a secure working environment that prioritizes the health and safety of all employees, integrating safety into daily operations.
- Assess and resolve DOT compliance issues in coordination with branch management, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards within the transportation function.
- Facilitate comprehensive training and compliance initiatives for hazardous materials transportation and storage, advancing employee competencies and organizational safety protocols.
- Champion a proactive safety culture within the Heritage Pool Division, engaging staff at all levels to prioritize safety awareness and establish a shared commitment to a risk-free workplace.
Direct Manager Direct Reports:
- Direct Manager: The Regional Safety Manager reports directly to the Director of Safety within the SRS Heritage Group.
- Direct Reports: This position does not have any direct reports, but collaborates extensively with District and Branch Managers to achieve safety objectives and ensure compliance across the assigned region. The role leverages strategic partnerships and subject matter expertise to drive a culture of safety throughout the Heritage Pool division.
Travel Requirements:
- The Regional Safety Manager in the SRS Heritage Group is required to travel frequently, up to 50% of the time, to support the implementation and oversight of safety and DOT programs across branches within the assigned region.
Physical Requirements:
- The Regional Safety Manager position at SRS Heritage Group primarily involves standard office-based physical activities and moderate travel. This includes the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during meetings, site visits, and office tasks. The role requires proficiency in using office equipment, such as computers and telecommunication devices, and the capability to communicate effectively. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or a related field.
- Proven expertise in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of State, Local, Federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Proficiency in OSHA logs and incident report management, particularly through the Origami platform.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting incident and accident investigations, with a strong competency in Root Cause Analysis.
- Strong ability to facilitate and conduct operator safety training, ensuring all training is current and compliant.
- Thorough understanding of DOT compliance issues, including CFR 49 Regulations, DOT Hours of Service, Driver Qualification Files, and Hazardous Materials Regulation, OSHA 1910.
- Ability to foster and cultivate a robust safety culture within a large organization.
- Excellent strategic planning skills, capable of driving growth and operational improvements in safety.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and diverse organizational environment.
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation and be willing to travel as required, up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Certifications: Possession of advanced safety certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), which demonstrate a deeper understanding of safety management and protocols.
- Experience in Multi-Site Management: Proven track record of managing safety programs across multiple locations, ensuring consistent and effective implementation of safety practices throughout diverse operational environments.
- Leadership and Development: Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing safety teams, with a strong ability to mentor and build capability within team members.
- Strategic Vision: Experience in developing and executing strategic safety initiatives that align with organizational goals and enhance overall safety culture and performance.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in using data analytics tools to track safety metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, and identify trends to inform decision-making and policy enhancements.
- Robust Communication Skills: Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to effectively present complex safety concepts to diverse audiences, including executives and front-line employees.
- Crisis Management and Incident Response: Expertise in crisis management and emergency response planning, with a demonstrated ability to lead effective incident response actions and recovery efforts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Aptitude for working collaboratively across departments, driving consensus, and fostering a culture of shared responsibility for workplace safety.
- Regulatory Change Management: Experience managing and adapting to changes in safety regulations and standards, ensuring ongoing compliance and encouraging proactive adoption of best practices.
- Innovative Problem Solving: A history of implementing innovative solutions to address complex safety challenges, continuously improving safety processes, and reducing risk.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or a closely related field is required.
Preferred Education:
- An advanced degree or additional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field are highly desirable for optimal outcome alignment and strategic impact.
Minimum Years Of Work Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management or a related field is required.
Certifications: Preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) - preferred.
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) - preferred.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification - preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification - preferred.
