Automation & DevOps Engineer @ ATL, GA

- Design, implement, and maintain advanced research systems and automation solutions.
- Engineer systems and algorithms for data extraction, processing, and decision-making.
- Develop and manage intelligent automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide specialized technical support for complex research infrastructure and applications.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Guide and train end-users and technical support teams; serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering tools.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain infrastructure, applications, and systems for reliability and scalability.
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot systems, networks, and software.
- Conduct system analysis, performance tuning, quality assurance, and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technology needs and optimize research processes.
- Document system configurations, technical specifications, and automation procedures.
- Manage change control processes and maintain automation documentation for governance.
- Design and implement IT business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance for research data protection.
- Ensure adherence to governance, security, and data privacy standards.
- Stay current with trends and technologies in research infrastructure and automation.
- Drive innovation by integrating new technologies and methodologies into research processes.
- Manage Kubernetes environments with Rancher and OpenShift.
- Manage GitLab CI/CD needs and support research workflows.
- Architect automation tooling for Compliance-as-Code using Ansible, GitLab, and related tools.
- Design and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code deployment platforms for provisioning multi-platform systems.
- Integrate security and compliance scanning into automated workflows.
- Develop automation processes to reduce manual tasks (e.g., SSL rotation, documentation updates).
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on automation practices.
- Provide ongoing training, support, and assistance to end-users.
- Continuously improve build and deployment processes and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
