About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room / Scrub Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 3 to 5 years License: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) is required. Description: The Surgical Technologist prepares the equipment, instruments, and supplies during surgery. They are responsible for protecting the sterile area. Incumbents must have a clear understanding of the surgical procedure being performed. This understanding enables them to anticipate the needs of the performing surgeon. Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic medical record documentation is preferred. 3 to 5 years’ experience is required for this position.
