About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year (preferred 2 years) License: Must be active prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience - Some cardiac drip experience is required Description: Position in a step-down intermediate cardiac/stroke unit. Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz. Proficiency in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms is essential. This is a true cardiac floor; not understanding rhythms can jeopardize patient health. Night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30 are required. Weekend coverage every other weekend is mandatory. Holiday coverage every other holiday is also required. Floating within scope to meet facility needs is necessary. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 5 patients. Previous charge experience is preferred. First-time travelers are accepted. Candidates must possess the ability to manage a variety of drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix. Unit treats conditions such as stroke, CHF, chest pain, MI, syncope, hypertension, and overdoses. The unit is busy with high acuity patients, predominantly adults and geriatrics. There is interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. All modes of oxygenation are utilized, excluding ventilation. Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing cardiac drips is essential. Travelers must complete required training modules prior to starting. Professional conduct is highly regarded; issues may result in immediate contract termination.
