Nurse Practitioner - Vascular Medicine

Clinical Focus: Vascular Medicine, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Limb Preservation, and Wound Care

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time 

Location: Bedford, TX 76021

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with peripheral arterial and venous disease.
• Perform comprehensive vascular-focused histories and physical examinations.
• Assess lower-extremity circulation, including pulses, edema, skin changes, signs of ischemia, and wound characteristics.
• Review vascular diagnostic testing and coordinate additional testing when clinically appropriate.
• Assist with pre-procedure and post-procedure management of vascular patients.
• Identify patients requiring physician evaluation or vascular intervention.
• Evaluate and manage chronic and complex lower-extremity wounds.
• Develop individualized treatment plans addressing vascular disease and barriers to wound healing.
• Perform wound assessments, measurements, documentation, and ongoing monitoring.
• Perform wound debridement and other procedures within the Nurse Practitioner's training, competency, scope of practice, and applicable regulations.
• Recognize and manage complications including infection, ischemia, venous hypertension, edema, and delayed healing.
• Coordinate care with vascular physicians, podiatry, primary care, home health, and other specialists.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding vascular disease, wound prevention, treatment plans, and risk-factor modification.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state.
• Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current national Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Previous experience in vascular medicine, vascular surgery, cardiovascular care, podiatry, surgery, or wound care strongly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage medically complex patients independently while collaborating with physicians and other members of the care team.

The ideal candidate understands that effective wound management requires identifying and addressing the underlying cause of the wound. This provider should be comfortable evaluating perfusion, recognizing vascular disease, identifying barriers to healing, and determining when additional vascular evaluation or intervention is necessary. We are seeking a proactive clinician who enjoys managing complex lower-extremity patients and contributing to an integrated vascular and limb-preservation program.
