About the Position

Azion is looking for a Chief Marketing Officer to join our Executive Leadership Team, based in our Palo Alto, CA office. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CMO will own Azion’s global growth strategy, marketing execution, and brand positioning as we scale across the U.S. and international markets.

This is a hands‑on executive role for an AI-driven builder who thrives on creating, shipping, measuring, and iterating. We are looking for someone who uses AI as a force multiplier across every aspect of marketing - from content creation and demand generation to automation, analytics, and experimentation - to deliver exceptional results with speed and efficiency. The CMO will work side by side with the CEO and partner closely with Revenue, Product, and Engineering to execute go‑to‑market initiatives and accelerate growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead Azion’s global marketing strategy, positioning the company head-to-head with category leaders across networking, compute, security, AI infrastructure, and application delivery.
• Own the entire marketing function—from brand and product marketing to demand generation, communications, developer marketing, events, and digital growth.
• Personally drive high-impact initiatives alongside your team. This is a builder role: we expect the CMO to actively leverage AI to create content, launch campaigns, analyze results, automate workflows, and accelerate execution.
• Build a world‑class product marketing organization that deeply understands customers, quantifies market opportunities, sharpens competitive positioning, and continuously improves messaging through customer insights and win/loss analysis.
• Partner closely with Revenue, Channels and Revenue Operations to maximize pipeline, customer acquisition, expansion, and retention through measurable, data‑driven marketing programs, including strategic account‑based marketing (ABM).
• Own marketing performance and investment decisions, continuously optimizing budget allocation based on business impact and experimenting aggressively with new channels, technologies, and AI‑powered growth strategies.
• Equip Channels, Sales and Solutions Engineering with compelling positioning, messaging, competitive intelligence, and enablement that improves win rates and accelerates enterprise sales cycles.
• Develop and scale Azion’s partner and ecosystem marketing strategy to increase market reach and generate revenue through strategic alliances.
• Champion AI across the marketing organization, embedding automation, experimentation, and data‑driven decision‑making into every workflow while establishing appropriate governance.
• Represent Azion with customers, media, analysts, investors, partners, and the developer community, serving as one of the company’s primary external voices.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop an exceptional marketing team while fostering a culture of ownership, speed, continuous learning, and high standards.

Required Qualifications

• Proven ability to build and scale high‑performing B2B marketing organizations that deliver measurable business growth.
• Experience leading marketing for technical products sold to enterprise buyers, developers, or technical decision‑makers, ideally in cloud infrastructure, AI, cybersecurity, networking, SaaS, or developer platforms.
• Demonstrated success partnering closely with Channels Sales to generate pipeline, accelerate revenue growth, and improve go‑to‑market execution.
• Hands‑on experience using AI to dramatically increase marketing productivity, accelerate execution, improve decision‑making, and scale impact.
• Strong analytical mindset with a bias for experimentation, rapid iteration, and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence customers, executives, analysts, investors, and industry partners.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing high‑performing marketing teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, high‑accountability environment where speed, ownership, and execution matter.
• Previous experience as a CMO is welcome but not required. We are looking for someone who has consistently delivered exceptional results and is ready to lead marketing at the executive level.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. We value demonstrated impact far more than academic credentials. An MBA is a plus, not a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience at, or competing against, companies such as Cloudflare, Akamai, Vercel, AWS, GCP, or similar CDN/edge/cloud or security platforms.
• Experience integrating AI tools into marketing operations (content, coaching, analytics) with appropriate governance.
• Experience with channel/partner marketing motions.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $220,000 - $320,000 per year . Actual base pay will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications, and is not inclusive of performance bonus, equity or benefits.
