Location: Primarily on-site in Austin, TX (Part-Time) - flexible with potential hybrid opportunities.

Our client is seeking a highly capable Staff Accountant for a distinctive part-time opportunity that goes well beyond traditional bookkeeping. This person will become the trusted owner of day-to-day accounting while also helping shape how the organization approaches financial reporting, technology, and recurring business processes. Focus:

• Own core accounting activities including reconciliations, journal entries, account classification, and recurring close work.
• Maintain reliable financial records and turn accounting data into clear management reporting for firm leadership.
• Build practical dashboards and reporting views that make monthly and quarterly performance easier to understand.
• Help modernize the accounting environment by supporting evaluation, migration, and adoption of a new financial platform.
• Look for smarter ways to handle recurring finance workflows, reporting, costs, and administrative processes.
• Use AI and automation thoughtfully where they can improve efficiency while protecting confidential and sensitive information.
• Coordinate selected software, technology, and vendor administration needs that intersect with finance and office operations.
• Work directly with senior professionals on financial questions, priorities, and occasional client or vendor matters.
• Manage responsibilities independently after a structured transition from the current accounting resource.
• Plan workload around recurring deadlines, with additional availability during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end cycles.

Skill Set:

• Strong command of practical accounting, including reconciliations, journal entries, account classification, close activities, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, dependable financial information with strong attention to detail.
• Professional-services experience with the judgment and communication skills to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Background in public accounting, a larger professional-services organization, or a sophisticated legal environment is strongly preferred.
• Self-directed work style and the ability to manage an accounting function with limited day-to-day oversight.
• Comfort balancing firm accounting rules and data integrity with practical judgment in less structured business situations.
• Interest in improving systems, reporting, technology, and recurring workflows rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
• Comfort learning new accounting and business software and helping guide a system transition.
• Sound judgment around responsible use of AI, automation, data privacy, and confidential information.
• Long-term interest in a stable part-time role and the ability to support predictable peak periods around financial close cycles.
