Information Systems Specialist

Information Systems Specialist Principal Responsibilities Provide application development and system design expertise to both internal and external projects. Database design, application development, and refinement and extension of internal and external reporting systems. Develop MS Access and SQL Server databases. Position Qualifications Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented. Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills with strong customer‑service orientation. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Preferred background in socioeconomic development. Experience with GIS application software (ArcIMS) is a plus. Graduate degree in information systems preferred. Basic understanding of a specific analytical methodology and its application to substantive socioeconomic development issues. Experience with databases, graphical display of information, and web page development. At least 3 (prefer 5) years of experience developing Access and SQL Server applications. Programming experience with HTML and SQL. Firm understanding of general query structure and functionality, including clauses, joins, subqueries, views, and indexing. Experience using various functions such as aggregate, date & time, arithmetic, character and conversion functions. Demonstrated ability to create new databases and perform database management, testing, and fine‑tuning.
