Job Description
Title: Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist
Company: ShipNomad
Location: On-site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay: $18–$21 per hour, based on experience
Employment type: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
About ShipNomad
ShipNomad is a founder-led third-party logistics (3PL) company that picks, packs, and ships for fast-growing e-commerce brands. We run a facility in Lebanon, TN and serve DTC and B2B clients in supplements, beauty, apparel, and trading cards. Our founders built the company after scaling their own online brand past 5,000 orders a month, so we know what accurate inventory means to the brands we serve.
This role matters because every order we ship starts with what you receive. When inbound counts are right and product lands in the correct bin in ShipHero, our pickers move fast, our clients trust their numbers, and we avoid the stockouts and overstocks that cost brands money. You are the first line of defense on inventory accuracy for every client in the building.
What you'll do
You own the inbound side of the warehouse from dock door to bin, and keep the inventory in ShipHero matching what is on the shelf.
Receiving
- Unload and check in inbound freight, parcel shipments, and container deliveries against the ASN or purchase order in ShipHero
- Verify SKU, quantity, lot number, and expiration date on every receipt; count cases and eaches, never assume the packing slip is right
- Inspect for damage, short ships, mislabels, and unlabeled product; document issues with photos and log them the same day
- Label, palletize, and stage received product for putaway
- Close receipts in ShipHero within 24 hours of arrival so client dashboards are current
Putaway and inventory control
- Put product away to the correct bin or pallet location and confirm every move with a scan
- Run daily cycle counts and scheduled full counts; research and resolve variances before adjusting
- Perform bin-to-bin transfers, replenishment to pick locations, and location clean-up
- Keep lot and expiration tracking accurate for FDA-regulated products (supplements, beauty)
- Flag slow-moving, expired, or damaged inventory for client review
Communication and reporting
- Report discrepancies to the Ops Manager and the client's account manager the day they are found
- Keep the receiving log and discrepancy log up to date
- Support client inventory questions with accurate, timely counts
- Suggest improvements to receiving flow, bin layout, and labeling as you see them
What you bring
- 1+ year of warehouse receiving, inventory control, or cycle-count experience (3PL, distribution, or e-commerce fulfillment preferred)
- Hands-on experience with a warehouse management system and RF/handheld scanners
- High attention to detail: you count twice and would rather slow down than post a wrong number
- Comfortable with basic math, unit-of-measure conversions (cases, inner packs, eaches), and reading packing slips and BOLs
- Able to work in Google Sheets or Excel well enough to update logs and simple counts
- Clear written and verbal communication; you can explain a discrepancy in a short Slack message
- Reliable attendance and a 7:30 AM start, every day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for the full shift, and pass a background check (I-9 / E-Verify)
Nice to have
- ShipHero experience
- Forklift, electric pallet jack, or reach-truck certification (we will train and certify the right candidate)
- Experience with lot and expiration tracking for supplements, food, or cosmetics
- Experience in a multi-client 3PL where each client has different receiving requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Physical requirements and work environment
This is an active, on-your-feet warehouse role in a climate-controlled 72,500 sq ft facility.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly; team-lift anything heavier
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb step ladders throughout an 8-hour shift
- Work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock doors; steel-toe or composite-toe footwear required
- Occasional overtime during peak season (Q4) and large inbound container days
Compensation, benefits, and how to apply
Pay is $18–$21 per hour depending on experience, paid on a regular schedule through Rippling, with overtime at 1.5x for hours over 40 in a week.
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Health benefits eligibility for full-time employees
- Paid training on ShipHero and equipment certification
- A clear growth path: this role is the foundation of our dedicated inventory team, with a lead position as the team grows
- A small, founder-led company where your ideas get heard and acted on
