## Grounds SupervisorApply: Plymouth State University: Full time: Posted Today: JR10041Under general supervision of designated supervisor, responsible for the coordination of grounds field operations and maintenance, and overall support to the Athletic Division. Responsible for providing excellent customer service, communicating directly and effectively with stakeholders, coordinating equipment, materials, and other resources in addition to labor needs to meet needs and requests. Serves as a department leader and mentor to all Grounds and Events staff. PSU Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and this position has responsibilities related to campus safety, athletic event support and winter time snow operations. Due to the nature of our business, employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to request outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the University. This may include early morning, evenings, weekends, and holiday work as needed. **Duties/Responsibilities:****Athletic Field Support and Customer Service:*** Oversee the overall operation and maintenance of outdoor NCAA intercollegiate fields, general University fields, and adjoining common areas.* Respond to work orders related to requested field set-ups and/or scheduled Athletic event set-ups.* Plan, schedule, assign, inspect, and supervise daily work of turf/grounds staff.* Supervise the preparation of the outdoor facilities for all athletic events and University events and work with supervisors to estimate the number of personnel needed.* Develop and maintain turf grass maintenance programs as required for the different playing fields.* Serve as the primary authority for forecasting field infrastructure repairs, replacement and improvement projects.* Provide exceptional customer service by responding to requests in a timely manner, communicating status to the customer, and following up when the request/event is complete.* Using the work management software, maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time expended.**Winter Snow Operations:*** Participate in the planning, scheduling, and supervision of winter snow removal/plowing.* Coordinate with Athletics on removal of snow from athletic fields.* Maintain a plow route as necessary.* Participate in the on-call rotation for snow call back and respond to snow/ice calls, including during off hours, as needed.**Leadership:*** Mentor, develop, and train turf staff and new employees.* Oversee and provide feedback to contractors working on campus as needed.* Contribute to a positive work culture.**Safety and Training:*** Follow all safety practices/ policies/procedures, techniques and precautions in performance of duties.* Keep current on all required safety trainings, code/license updates and any certifications required.* Continuously seek out professional development opportunities that will benefit the University and your technical skills to stay current on technical skills and be knowledgeable of best practices, future trends and technologies. **Requirements:****Minimum Education & Experience:*** High school diploma or equivalent* Valid motor vehicle operator's license and DOT medical card* Four years of related experience in athletic facilities maintenance and repair for a college/university athletic department or a similar education/experience in another setting**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:*** Knowledge of University or College athletic events, various types of turf management and NCAA field maintenance and line painting requirements is desired* Mechanical skill and knowledge of motorized equipment* Knowledge of applicable codes/ordinances* Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs* Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smart phones, and software systems to perform work duties* Ability to report to work under emergency weather conditions and work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends during emergency and weather events* Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time* Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary* Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and write, to effectively communicate with customers, team members, contractors and supervisors. **Preferred Qualifications:*** One year of supervisory experience in grounds maintenance or a related field/area or completion of professional certification in supervisor skills **Applicant Instructions:**Applicants should be prepared to upload the following documents when applying online within the ***My Experience: Resume/CV*** section of the application: (Maximum of 5 Documents)* Resume/CVPlymouth State University offers high-quality baccalaureate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs.
