Summary The IT Administrator is responsible for establishing, developing, and managing the City’s IT function. This role provides hands‑on technical support for day‑to‑day operations, oversees network infrastructure, and serves as the City’s primary point of contact for the third‑party IT support provider. The position will lead the creation of IT policies, processes, and long‑term technology planning to support City operations and future growth. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position‑specific duties. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong technical knowledge across hardware, operating systems, Microsoft 365 administration, cloud services, networking (TCP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls, Wi‑Fi), cybersecurity, server environments, backups, patching, and overall system maintenance. Skilled in IT asset management, software licensing, equipment lifecycle planning, help desk operations, ticketing systems, and vendor/contract oversight to support efficient IT service delivery. Ability to build IT processes and standards, work independently in a growing environment, analyze problems and implement improvements, adapt to changing technologies, and maintain confidentiality while safeguarding sensitive information. Ability to collaborate effectively with departments, deliver exceptional customer service to users at all technical levels, and lift, install, and maintain IT equipment as needed. Ability to establish and maintain professionally effective relationships with external public/vendors, internal management and non‑management employees, and City and other government officials. Ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the City. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong time and task management skills. Preferred Qualifications Formal Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. Relatable Work Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of hands‑on IT experience. Certifications: CJIS Security Certificate – obtainable within first month and other such as Microsoft, experience with network design, cloud management, and cybersecurity practices.
