Finance & Legal Administrative Specialist

Meagher + Geer is seeking a detail-oriented Billing and Finance Administrative Specialist to support billing, accounting, finance, and legal administration functions. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who enjoys working collaboratively, managing financial and administrative details, and providing exceptional internal and client service in a fast-paced professional services environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, edit, and process attorney prebills and client invoices to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client billing requirements. Process electronic billing submissions, respond to billing inquiries, and collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to resolve billing questions, adjustments, and revenue-related matters. Assist with general accounting functions, financial record maintenance, reporting, reconciliations, data management, and other Finance Department processes. Support legal administration needs, including client and matter administration, document preparation, coordination of information, and backup administrative support. Maintain billing documentation, contribute to process improvements, and support departmental initiatives focused on efficiency, accuracy, and service. Build positive working relationships with attorneys, legal professionals, clients, and administrative staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Provide flexible support across departments, adapt to changing priorities, and assist with special projects as assigned. Qualifications: Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant professional experience will also be considered. Three or more years of experience in legal billing, accounting, legal administration, or a professional services environment preferred. Prior law firm experience is strongly preferred. Experience with legal billing systems, accounting software, or practice management software preferred. Experience with Aderant, Elite, or Clio law firm software is a plus. Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs. Competitive salary ($65k – $80k) commensurate with experience.
