Construction Manager - Rail & Transit

The Construction Manager will perform on-site construction management services for major rail and transit projects in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Candidate will perform day to day management of construction contractor, construction inspection and office engineering staff. Manage overall contractor performance to ensure quality product and maintain designated budget while meeting deadlines. Ensure that all work being performed by the contractors conforms to plans and specifications. Supervise arrangements and scheduling, coordinate meetings, review and recommend Change Order approval and Payment to Contractors for Work Performed and address disputes related to the construction contracts.Responsibilities:Responsible for managing the office engineering functions on a given project, including correspondence, submittals, logs, change orders and other documents as requiredProvide quality control and assurance services for our clients in a lead field role on construction projectsResponsible for supervising a field inspection staff to document the contractor’s progress and compliance with contract documentsMaintain continuing liaison with new and perspective client managers during the construction projectBe involved in the administration, accounting and invoicing of the project with the home office, and the client, including client paymentMaintain certifications of the individual and staff to satisfy the needs of our clientsWork with the client Project Executives and Project Managers in the management of the projectAttend and supervise meetings with management, designers, contractors and stakeholders.Assist in the hiring and training off staff to support the project needsReports to Rail & Transit General ManagerSubmit reviews, engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and project document controls.Provides support to the General Manager to achieve the goals set forth for projectsEnsures quality productMaintains designated budgets while meeting deadlinesRepresents the firm as a committee member and/or officer in one or moretechnical/professional societiesMay participate in the marketing functions of the firmWorks with other Rail & Transit managers to share and obtain workResponsible for compliance with requirements of ISO 9001:2000 Quality SystemKeeps abreast of developments affecting the delivery of services and recommends changes or initiatives as warranted by such developments.Develops and implements personnel development objectives and identifies training requirementsParticipate in non-corporate community organizations for social improvementPerform other duties as assignedBachelor's degree in Engineering is requiredA minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, inspection and engineering; preferably on complex rail and transit infrastructure and facilities projects for public agencies and railroads. Overall experience in providing engineering services – 20 years.Candidate must have leadership qualities and be capable of supervising construction inspection and office engineering staff.Professional Registration as an Engineer is preferred.Ability to pass OSHA 30 is necessaryRigorous background checks are required to access air side properties along with a valid driver’s licenseProficiency with Microsoft Office softwareExcellent verbal and written skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
