The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes production equipment in a food manufacturing environment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations with minimal downtime. This direct placement role offers openings on both 1st and 2nd shift and focuses on supporting highly automated meat processing equipment through expert electrical and mechanical maintenance.

• Perform all maintenance activities with safety as the highest priority, strictly following OSHA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, and food safety regulations.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical (120V to 480V), pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production and food processing equipment.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and maintain consistent production efficiency.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and other automation systems, focusing on inputs, outputs, and control signals (programming not required).
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to identify issues and plan repairs.
• Assist with installation of new equipment, upgrades to existing machinery, and implementation of process improvements.
• Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to support continuous operations and maintain product standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and documentation for all work performed.
• Use appropriate lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols when working on energized or high-voltage equipment.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and basic industrial repair equipment to perform mechanical maintenance, welding, assembly, and motor repairs.
• Monitor equipment performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability and throughput.
• Support a safety-sensitive work environment by remaining alert to hazards and contributing to the safety of self and coworkers.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in electromechanical or industrial maintenance, preferably within the food processing or manufacturing industry.
• Strong proficiency working with industrial electrical components and systems from 120V up to 480V and higher.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot PLCs and automation systems, including inputs, outputs, and signal flow (without requiring programming).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Solid understanding and practical use of lockout/tagout procedures and general industrial safety practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and wet areas.
• GED or high school diploma.
• Certifications in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a closely related field.

• Experience in a food manufacturing or meat processing environment with familiarity in HACCP, GMP, SQF, and food safety requirements.
• Background in preventive and corrective maintenance programs aimed at improving equipment reliability.
• Exposure to industrial motors, assemblies, and mechanical maintenance in a high-volume production setting.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools for repair, assembly, and basic welding tasks.
• Comfort working with refrigeration systems and equipment operating in both cold and elevated temperature zones.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with production, quality, and other maintenance team members.
• Demonstrated solid tenure in previous roles and a positive, collaborative attitude toward work and safety.

This role is based in a food manufacturing plant that operates with approximately 160 employees across two shifts. The facility includes refrigerated areas typically ranging from 30 to 40 degrees, as well as zones that may reach up to 9095 degrees, particularly during warmer months. The environment can be wet at times, consistent with food processing operations. Technicians work around automated production lines, industrial electrical systems, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and PLC-controlled machinery. Safety equipment is required and includes slip-resistant boots, hair and beard nets, gloves, helmets, hearing protection, and eye protection as needed. The schedule offers 1st shift (6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.), with training provided on 1st shift. Employees receive two paid 10-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch period during each shift.

This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA.

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
