About This Job District 03 / UNIT 510 / MAINTENANCE / IBERIA PARISH. Job Number: 03-14124-AC4-06112026-LR. The overall function of this position is a Maintenance Clerk located in the District 03 Iberia Parish Maintenance Unit of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the unit Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent. The incumbent must be self‑motivated, able to perform duties independently and with little to no supervision. This position must possess extensive knowledge of DOTD work activity codes and the roadway system to accurately process, report, and document all activities accomplished. The incumbent participates in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attends all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in administrative services. Experience Substitution: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. Job Duties Prepares, enters, and edits daily work reports for Highway Foreman and other maintenance unit staff, including information on materials and equipment used, as well as man hours spent. Ensures that each material used is properly noted on pickup sheets with location, date/time received and all equipment is properly recorded with correct equipment numbers, activity codes, and matching accomplishments. Checks daily work reports for employees’ work hours, overtime, and compensatory leave earned and ensures that they are properly charged. Creates and maintains FMLA and Military leave buckets as well as schedules substitutions. Enters fuel, oil, and work orders and notifications information. Maintains inventory. Answers telephone calls from the public, files complaints and ensures customer needs are addressed in a timely manner with knowledge and understanding of roadway hazards, drainage problems, tall grass obstruction, traffic lights, and roadway closures. Assists employees with time entry, training needs, and office‑related functions.
