Electrical Engineering Manager (High Voltage)

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager – High Voltage to lead the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure within a large commercial and technical campus environment.

This position requires extensive experience with electrical power distribution and transmission systems , medium- and high-voltage equipment, critical power systems, and electrical maintenance operations. The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a technical team, manage vendors, support major electrical projects, and ensure mission-critical systems remain safe, reliable, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the High Voltage Department and oversee daily electrical operations, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and system reliability activities.
• Ensure preventative and reactive maintenance work orders are completed on schedule while maintaining minimal maintenance backlog.
• Oversee maintenance and repair programs for critical electrical equipment, including:
  • Medium- and high-voltage distribution systems
  • UPS systems
  • Emergency generators
  • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
  • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
  • Load centers
  • Electrical switchgear
  • Transformers and associated distribution equipment
• Manage vendor preventative maintenance programs, repairs, inspections, and electrical service activities.
• Develop electrical maintenance specifications and lead multi-year switchgear maintenance programs.
• Plan and oversee building electrical shutdowns, medium-voltage switching activities, and other critical electrical events.
• Serve as a primary technical contact for local utility providers during outages, disturbances, switching events, and infrastructure projects.
• Lead regular electrical systems meetings and provide updates regarding maintenance activities, electrical projects, system reliability, and corrective action plans.
• Provide engineering support for facility and infrastructure projects, including development of detailed scopes of work and project cost estimates.
• Review electrical engineering drawings, specifications, designs, and contractor proposals.
• Perform or review:
  • Short-circuit studies
  • Electrical coordination studies
  • Arc-flash/arc-fault studies
  • Electrical load evaluations
• Develop and author detailed Field Switching Procedures for critical electrical work.
• Support equipment startup, commissioning, testing, and switching operations for new electrical installations.
• Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports following significant electrical outages, failures, or system events.
• Support Project Managers with electrical vendor coordination, technical reviews, project planning, and proposal evaluation.
• Maintain accurate documentation regarding electrical system configuration, equipment condition, and end-of-life status.
• Conduct site assessments and identify opportunities to improve electrical reliability, safety, redundancy, and long-term infrastructure performance.
• Ensure electrical work complies with applicable safety regulations, electrical codes, operating procedures, and facility protocols.
• Lead, mentor, and develop electrical technicians, engineers, and other technical personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working with medium- and/or high-voltage electrical systems .
• Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory, management, or technical leadership experience .
• Strong experience with electrical power distribution and transmission systems .
• Extensive knowledge of commercial or industrial electrical distribution systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of medium-voltage operations, switching procedures, and electrical system maintenance.
• Experience with UPS systems, generators, transfer switches, switchgear, transformers, and other critical power equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical system design, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and repair methodologies.
• Experience managing electrical preventative maintenance programs and critical infrastructure.
• Experience using CMMS/work order management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, service agreements, and maintenance programs.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proven ability to lead, train, and develop technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop technical procedures, reports, scopes of work, analyses, and presentations.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause-analysis capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within critical environments, data centers, semiconductor facilities, manufacturing facilities, or other mission-critical operations .
• Working knowledge of SKM electrical engineering software .
• Experience performing or reviewing short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
• Experience with large campus electrical distribution systems.
• Previous experience overseeing medium- or high-voltage switching and electrical shutdown activities.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Work is performed primarily in an industrial or technical facility environment, including electrical rooms, mechanical spaces, utility areas, and raised-floor data center environments.
• Ability to safely access electrical and mechanical equipment throughout a large facility or campus.
• Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required to support electrical shutdowns, critical maintenance, commissioning, or emergency events.
• Must be able to support multi-day electrical projects and commissioning activities when necessary.
• Ability to respond to critical electrical situations and provide technical support when required.
