Sr Software Engineer - Market Optimization

Salary: $127,880 - 191,820 per year Requirements:

• Masters degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems or optimization
• At least 2 years of experience in power systems analysis, specifically involving electricity market optimization application development
• PhD in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power systems or optimization is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of wholesale market management systems, especially PJM, Midwest ISO, Southwest Power Pool, ISO New England, or Alberta Electric System Operator
• Hands-on experience developing optimization software for large-scale systems, including Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch
• Solid understanding of Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP)
• Experience with testing and test automation
• Strong command of source control management, particularly GitHub
• Demonstrated ability to learn new software development practices, languages, and tools
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required, with potential visa sponsorship if a shortage of qualified individuals exists
• Willingness to travel 10–20% of the time
• Willingness to work from our Bellevue, WA office if needed
• Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen is required

• Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced agile environment using modern development technologies and infrastructure
• Provide domain expertise and technical leadership to a team of electricity market application software engineers
• Lead and contribute to electricity market application development while ensuring delivery stays on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations
• Prepare documentation such as design notes and testing procedures
• Provide budget estimates for new project tasks to project and program leads
• Work with customers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure quality standards and functional requirements are met
• Mentor junior team members and support their growth
• Collaborate with the Product Development Team, customers, solution providers, and other cross-functional partners as needed
• Apply SDLC principles and methodologies such as Lean, Agile, XP, CI, security practices, scalability, documentation, refactoring, and testing techniques
