Camp Support Counselor

Location and Job Title Camp Support Counselor Stroum Jewish Community Center 3801 East Mercer Way Mercer Island, WA 98040 Principal Responsibilities Camp Support Counselors assist with mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health (MESSH) support of J Camp campers, providing direct support under the direction of the Camp Care Coordinator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guide staff in implementing positive behavior management strategies with campers. Actively participate in and supervise activities during J Camp, including in the pool. Join groups that need extra support. Interact with multiple groups and campers throughout each day. Maintain positive, professional interactions with staff and families while redirecting all personal concerns, requests for guidance, or support needs to the Camp Care Coordinator. Alert Camp Care Coordinator when a situation is out of the Camp Support Counselor's scope of practice. Confidentially document observations of camper behaviors, interactions, and needs, and share with the Camp Care Coordinator for guidance and support. Provide flexible support across multiple camp locations, in person, over the phone, and virtually. Immediately inform Camp Care Coordinator of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians, and/or community members. Communicate regularly with the Camp Director and other members of the Camp Leadership Team; share recommendations with the Camp Director on an ongoing basis. Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC. Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC. Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Experience and/or training working with children required. Registered Behavior Technician training or other similar behavior training preferred. Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body.
