Maintenance Mechanic
The Maintenance Mechanic installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production equipment, systems, and utilities in a food manufacturing environment. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, timely repairs, and equipment upgrades to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment, systems, and utilities to ensure reliable operation.
- Complete maintenance work orders from task sheets in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment such as flow wrappers, mixers, conveyors, chillers, and coolers.
- Repair packaging and bulk manufacturing equipment as needed to minimize downtime.
- Document all completed work, findings, and parts used in the computer system for accurate maintenance records.
- Carry out special projects involving equipment installation, modification, or retrofitting to improve performance and efficiency.
- Use hand tools and appropriate equipment to perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs safely.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using mechanical and electrical knowledge, including PLC-related diagnostics where applicable.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all safety procedures while working in a food production environment.
- Support both 1st and 2nd shift operations and be available to be on call or fill in for team members when needed.
- Collaborate with a small maintenance team to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and maintain a smooth production process.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NILES, IL. The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
