Supervisor, Lab Preanalytic - Lakewood - FT- Days

Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Supervisor, Laboratory Processing is responsible for the day‑to‑day operational oversight, technical guidance, and direct supervision of staff within the laboratory preanalytic (specimen collection and processing) functions. The incumbent directs departmental workflow, ensures staff competency, and maintains the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and customer service within the assigned laboratory processing sub‑section. The role is responsible for selecting, orienting, and training new staff, as well as coaching, performance management, and professional development of all assigned personnel. The Supervisor defines performance expectations, evaluates staff performance, and initiates corrective action as warranted, in alignment with health system policies and procedures. This position serves as the primary technical resource for service‑related issues within the laboratory processing sub‑section, providing expertise in customer service, practitioner support, problem resolution, and specimen requirements and handling. The Supervisor maintains accurate departmental records, promotes effective communication across all levels of the department, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement. Required Qualifications What It Takes to be Successful Three years applicable clinical lab work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Prior lead or supervisory experience Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Demonstrated understanding of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel and Access Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization Preferred Qualifications State of California Phlebotomy certificate or equivalent and phlebotomy experience Experience with lab/hospital computer systems and software Licenses And Certifications: N/A Total Rewards We offer medical insurance, sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and access to a number of discounts and perks.
