For this High School Art Teacher position, you'll be working for our high school in Wilmington, Delaware called Freire Charter School Wilmington (8th-12th Grade): Freire is all about Graduation x 2 – graduation from high school and from college. We challenge our students to achieve higher than they ever have before, and we give them the support they need to get there, including individualized college counseling. 95% of The Class of 2025 received acceptances into 52 unique colleges and universities and earned nearly $4.3M in scholarship award offers. This success is possible because the Freire Wilmington community is a true family, where students and teachers work together to build the future each student wants and deserves.

Freire Charter Wilmington: 201 W 14th St, Wilmington, DE 19801

As an art teacher, you'll be responsible for fostering creativity and artistic skills through engaging lessons and activities for our senior class. You'll give students the tools to use art as a medium for thinking critically about the world and themselves!

• Set up, maintain, and safely manage art supplies, tools, and studio spaces for daily student use
• Create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.
• Design and deliver lessons that build students' technical skills and creative expression across a range of artistic media
• Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school related information.
• Actively participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support the needs of our students.

• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.
• Strong art content knowledge and skills
• Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done
• At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations

The annual salary range for this role is $50,000–$85,000, with certified teachers entering their first year starting at $55,000. We offer a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and additional benefits. Delaware employees are enrolled in Delaware's state pension plan and may also elect to participate in the state's 403(b) retirement plan.
