Our client is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a large, unionized workforce. This Payroll Specialist role is ideal for someone who thrives in a complex environment and values accuracy, compliance, and teamwork. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining system integrity. The Payroll Specialist will also contribute to improving payroll processes and supporting cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist Role:
- Process biweekly payroll for approximately 550 employees, ensuring accuracy across departments.
- Interpret collective bargaining agreements to ensure proper pay, deductions, and benefits administration.
- Review and resolve employee medical leave backlogs, maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Maintain, audit, and report on payroll data within the UKG system.
- Troubleshoot payroll and system issues, partnering with HR and finance to drive solutions.
Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:
- Preferred: Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
- 2+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a union environment.
- Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or similar systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret labor agreements and policies.
