Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist assists during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of a sterile field and providing necessary instrumentation to the surgical team. This role requires expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The Surgical Technologist works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to ensure optimal patient care and supports perioperative team communication and workflow. Responsibilities:

• Maintain and verify sterile packaging, processing, and integrity of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Ensure operating room safety and proper functioning of equipment during surgical procedures.
• Monitor sterile field to prevent contamination and take corrective actions as needed.
• Assist with Tier 1 surgical cases while progressing toward full competency.
• Contribute to individualized and ongoing delivery of care within scope of practice.
• Participate actively in perioperative team communication, including Time Out Process, briefings, and debriefings.
• Assist with patient transport, room turnovers, and preparation of the surgical environment.
• Maintain professional behavior and stay current with new technologies, instrumentation, and procedures.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Adhere to Just Culture principles and HIPAA compliance.

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program.
• Licensed Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
• Proficient computer skills for online learning and documentation.
• Working knowledge of English language (reading, writing, speaking).

• Familiarity with AORN standards and perioperative protocols.
• Experience with Tier 1 surgical cases.

• Must comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Work involves exposure to healthcare hazards such as radiation, chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, and dust.
• Physical demands include standing 50%, walking 20%, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, and other moderate physical activities.
• Must demonstrate punctuality and reliability to start shifts on time.
• Role requires ability to work under stress and meet deadlines both independently and as part of a team.

• Work schedule consists of three 12-hour day shifts per week.
• Shift assignments are fixed as day shifts.
