Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician inspects incoming and outgoing aerospace parts, raw materials, and documentation to ensure full compliance with FAA guidelines and industry standards. This role combines hands-on inspection work with detailed documentation, reporting, and computer-based tracking using SAP in a fast-paced aerospace environment.ResponsibilitiesInspect incoming and outgoing parts, articles, and materials in accordance with FAA guidelines and internal quality standards.Inspect incoming and outgoing raw materials to verify conformance to specifications and applicable aerospace standards.Assemble component kits by accurately selecting and organizing parts according to work instructions and documentation.Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify that parts match engineering prints and specifications.Perform up to approximately 200 part inspections per day while maintaining accuracy and adherence to quality procedures.Identify nonconforming parts or materials and write clear, detailed nonconformance or discrepancy reports.Track and maintain shipments and inventory status using SAP and other computer-based systems.Handle and inspect aircraft and aerospace parts in accordance with relevant regulations and quality requirements.Complete and maintain all required documentation, including scanning, filing, and electronic record updates.Support quality audits and inspections by providing accurate records and documentation as needed.Read and interpret engineering prints and technical documentation to perform accurate inspections.Work collaboratively with inbound and outbound quality teams to ensure timely processing of parts and materials.Balance workload between hands-on quality inspection (approximately 50%) and documentation and computer work (approximately 50%).Essential SkillsMinimum 2 years of recent experience performing aerospace-specific quality inspections.Hands-on experience inspecting aircraft and aerospace parts in compliance with FAA guidelines.Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments for dimensional inspection.Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and technical drawings.Experience with quality control, quality assurance, and inspection processes in an aerospace or similar regulated environment.Ability to complete detailed documentation, including inspection records, nonconformance reports, and audit-related documents.Comfort working with computer systems for documentation, scanning, and data entry.Experience tracking and maintaining shipments and inventory using SAP or similar enterprise systems.Familiarity with FAA audits and regulatory requirements related to aerospace quality.Strong attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting high volumes of parts.Ability to work effectively on a structured second shift schedule.Additional Skills & QualificationsCurrent appointment as an FAA-ODAR and Cat-8 inspector with experience working with Authorized Release Certificates.Experience with industry standard parts and specifications, including National Aerospace Standard (NAS) and Air Force–Navy Aeronautical Standards.Experience with Transport Canada regulations related to aerospace quality and compliance.Approximately 5 years of experience in quality roles, preferably in aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.Experience using SAP programs for quality, inventory, or logistics processes.A&P License (not required, but considered a significant plus).Experience supporting or participating in FAA audits.Strong written communication skills for preparing clear reports and documentation.Ability to work both independently and as part of an inbound or outbound quality team.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a comprehensive package that supports health, financial security, and professional growth. Work is primarily performed while sitting or standing in one place, with responsibilities split roughly 50% on quality inspection and 50% on documentation and computer work. The warehouse can become very hot when outside temperatures are high, so comfort with varying temperature conditions is important. The position operates on a second shift schedule from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a standard 40-hour workweek initially and additional availability expected after 2–3 months of training. The department includes around 40 people, with teams organized by inbound and outbound activities, providing a structured team-based environment that relies on collaboration and clear communication. Precision tools such as micrometers and calipers, along with SAP and other computer systems, are used regularly as part of daily work.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Plaines, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
