Controller Consultant

Dak Consulting Group (DCG) is seeking experienced Controller Consultants to support clients through interim leadership needs, accounting transformations, process improvement initiatives, and complex financial projects. As a Controller Consultant, you will partner directly with client executives and finance teams to assess challenges, strengthen financial operations, and implement practical solutions. Engagements may vary by industry, company size, and scope, providing the opportunity to apply your expertise across a range of business environments. What You’ll Do Serve as a trusted finance and accounting partner to CFOs, executives, and senior finance leaders, providing insight and recommendations to address business needs. Take ownership of accounting and finance initiatives, from assessing current operations through implementation and execution. Lead financial reporting and accounting operations while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and established company policies. Assess existing processes, controls, and workflows to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Design and implement stronger accounting policies, procedures, controls, and documentation. Lead process improvement and finance transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and reporting capabilities. Support ERP implementations, system upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives. Analyze financial information and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide meaningful insight to leadership. Lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals while introducing improved processes and best practices. Step into hands‑on leadership when required to stabilize accounting operations, resolve complex issues, or support a transition. Adapt quickly to changing client priorities, organizational structures, systems, and business environments. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, public accounting, consulting, or comparable industry experience. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and financial analysis. Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes, strengthening controls, and driving operational improvements. Experience partnering with CFOs, executives, and senior finance leadership. Strong analytical, communication, problem‑solving, and client relationship skills. Ability to quickly evaluate a client’s environment, establish priorities, and independently drive solutions. Experience with major ERP and accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems. Strong Excel and financial reporting capabilities. Consulting, project‑based, interim, multi‑entity, or transformation experience is highly valued. CPA, CMA, CIA, or another relevant professional certification is a plus.
