Certified Surgical Tech

Ascension is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to support high-quality, compassionate surgical care within our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this on‑site role, you will prepare operating rooms, ensure instruments and equipment are sterile and ready, and assist surgeons throughout procedures while maintaining strict aseptic technique. You will collaborate with a diverse, patient‑focused care team, support innovation and continuous learning, and participate in ongoing professional development within a mission‑driven, community‑centric health system. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and available. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining the sterile field. Anticipate surgical team needs and ensure adherence to aseptic technique and safety standards. Verify patient identity, procedure, and site in collaboration with the surgical team. Handle and care for surgical specimens according to protocols. Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with circulating nurse to maintain patient safety. Clean, restock, and turn over operating rooms between cases. Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to support optimal patient outcomes. Follow Ascension policies, infection prevention guidelines, and regulatory standards. Participate in ongoing education, skills development, and quality improvement initiatives.
