Residence Life Coordinator

Job Description The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is a professional member ofthe Office of Residence Life and is responsible for the overalladministration of their assigned residential areas, student staff,and community development. The RLC will also be assigned to afunctional area and departmental responsibilities to enhancestudent engagement and fulfill the mission of the Division ofStudent Affairs and Student Success.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: Experience working with undergraduate and graduatestudents. Supervisory experience or previous experience working inuniversity settings. Skilled in excellent professional interpersonal, verbal, andwritten communication skills, including the ability to workeffectively with all individuals. Preferred: Previous experience living or working in residence life orstudent leadership roles (1–3 years). Organizing multistep or long-term projects (e.g., Student StaffTraining, Student Staff Recruitment) Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, StudentAffairs, Counseling, Education, or related field is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision of undergraduate or graduate paraprofessional studentstaff, such as Resident Assistants, Apartment Community Assistants,Graduate Assistants, desk workers, and other assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervision: Provide direct supervision to Resident Assistants (RAs) orApartment Community Assistants (ACAs) and/or GraduateAssistants. Participate in the recruitment, selection, training,development, and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate studentstaff. Maintain weekly staff meetings and recurring biweeklyindividual meetings for ongoing development. Set clear performance expectations and hold staff accountableto departmental and university processes, procedures, andpolicies. Provide indirect supervision to additional student staffmembers or desk assistants working in assigned communities. Promote a positive team environment by identifying, addressing,and resolving problems within the team. Community Development: Facilitate the implementation of the Residence Life EngagementModel within assigned areas to develop a sense of belonging withinthe residential communities. Oversee Living Learning Communities (LLCs) within assignedareas, and partner with faculty liaisons to promote studentlearning and development. Maintain a consistent level of visibility and interact withstudents on a regular basis. Support students by addressing their needs and concerns toovercome challenges and achieve success. Connect students with campus resources to promote personal,academic, and social growth. Collaborate with campus partners on initiatives to createsafety nets for students' well-being. Building Management and Administration: Maintain accurate administrative records: building occupancy,key inventories, student conduct management, budget accounts, andother housing-related processes. Oversee desk operations and staff scheduling. Monitor, maintain, and approve payroll for assigned staffmembers. Collaborate with University Facilities, Housekeeping, orApartment Management to ensure communities arewell-maintained. Assist in move-in, break housing, and move-out processes eachsemester. Utilize departmental databases and online systems foremangement of day-to-day operations, including but not limited toHousing.Cloud, Maxient, Success Slate, Google Drive Workspaces,etc. Student Conduct and Crisis Management: Share, communicate, and enforce all residence hall, apartment,and student conduct policies. Serve as a hearing officer and adjudicator of assigneduniversity conduct cases. Serve in an on-call rotation with other Professional Staff asthe primary contact person to assist in emergency or crisissituations. On-call responsibilities are for the entire residential campus.(Includes university break periods and holidays) Serve on Title IX or University Conduct Boards as needed. Departmental Responsibilities: Lead and oversee a functional area initiative related toStudent Staff Training, Living Learning Communities, Student StaffEmployment, Residence Life Engagement Model, or other identifiedarea. Assist other professional staff members with their functionalareas as requested. Assist with departmental and divisional programmaticinitiatives, which may require collaboration with other campusoffices. Fulfill summer responsibilities that may include working withConferences and Event Services, Admissions, Orientation, SummerSchool, Student Staff Training, special projects, etc. Participate in assessment and retention efforts by contributingfeedback, supporting data collection, and collaborating onstrategies to enhance student success and persistence. Participate in weekly meetings with the Residence LifeProfessional Staff Team. Opportunities to serve on additional University Committees as aResidence Life representative. Additional Responsibilities: Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s). Demonstrate respectful, ethical, and responsible behavior. Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules. Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employeehandbooks and policies. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance andpunctuality.
