Mortgage Underwriter

What You’ll Do

- Manage a daily pipeline of loans across RCN Capital’s full suite of lending programs
- Review and analyze loan files for accuracy, creditworthiness, compliance, and collateral
- Validate borrower and entity information, review credit reports, and assess investor experience
- Collaborate closely with Loan Officers and the lending team to ensure files are complete and moving efficiently toward funding
- Build a strong understanding of RCN Capital’s loan programs and underwriting guidelines
- Make sound, data-driven underwriting decisions while escalating complex scenarios when needed
- Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and deepen underwriting expertise
- Familiarity with real estate investment lending is a plus, but not required
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to communicate professionally via phone, email, and in person
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field preferred
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 4 years of mortgage underwriting experience
- Experience with private or hard money lending strongly preferred
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Hybrid work model (2 days per week in office)
