## Faculty Staff Physician – Internal Medicine (Health Equity & Value Based Care Faculty)Applylocations: Esperanza Health Centertime type: Full timeposted on: Posted 30+ Days Agojob requisition id: 986471**Primary Purpose**Responsible for providing comprehensive and evidence-based healthcare for patients, including, but not limited to, problem identification, inquiry of medical history, identification of psychosocial concerns and determinants of health, relevant physical exam, medical assessment, and appropriate management/treatment of acute and/or chronic medical conditions, as well as recommended screening tests/health maintenance ensuring optimal health, decreasing complication, and expediting recovery.**Essential Functions****1. Teaching & Educational Leadership*** Supervises Internal Medicine residents in the clinic, providing experiential, real‐time teaching in primary care, population health, value-based, and equity‐focused practice.* Teaches residents to integrate social determinants of health, and community‐engaged approaches into clinical decision‐making.* Participates in structured educational activities including journal club, lecture series, case conferences, and resident workshops.* Mentors residents in quality improvement, health‐equity research, and scholarly projects.* Collaborates with program leadership to develop and refine curriculum aligned with ACGME competencies and Parkland priorities.* Provides formative and summative feedback to residents, supporting their professional growth.**2. Direct Patient Care in Value‐Based Care Clinic*** Provides comprehensive Internal Medicine care using evidence‐based guidelines and value‐based care principles.* Helps identify and establish value-based standard practices for the clinic* Uses population‐health tools, risk stratification, and care‐coordination strategies to improve outcomes and reduce disparities.* Identifies and addresses non-medical drivers of health impacting patient care.* Works collaboratively with care managers, pharmacists, social workers, behavioral health, and community partners to deliver coordinated, team‐based care.* Partners in a positive and collegial manner with rest of GME related personnel both at Parkland and UT Southwestern**3. Alignment with ACGME Core Competencies****Patient Care*** Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective care for complex adult patients.* Models high‐value, equitable care for residents in supervised clinic settings.**Medical Knowledge*** Maintains up‐to‐date knowledge of Internal Medicine, health equity science, and value‐based care frameworks.* Integrates evidence‐based practice into teaching and clinical care.**Practice‐Based Learning and Improvement*** Participates in QI initiatives and mentors residents in QI methodology.* Uses performance data to improve teaching and clinical outcomes.**Level of Supervision Received:** Plans and arranges own work and the team's work. Helps create a comprehensive andcoordinated plan of care which takes into account medical records, patient and family, primary care physicians, and specialists.**Communication & Influence**: Communicates information within and outside the function on matters that involve obtaining or providing difficult or sensitive information requiring significant explanation, interpretation, and consensus-building for patients and others within the care team. Influences others to accept department view/practices and agree with/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Influences business decisions made by leadership. May collaborate with care management teams.**Organizational Impact**: Holds overall responsibility for improving upon existing clinical approaches, practices, and processes. Improves clinical processes; helps develop operating standards. Problems are often unique and complex; requires anticipation of sophisticated clinical, business and regulatory issues.
