Description
- Conduct patient evaluations across a spectrum of age groups, employing standardized assessments coupled with observational strategies.
- Create tailored treatment plans targeting both immediate and long-term goals related to communication, cognitive functions, or swallowing abilities.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions aimed at enhancing communication, language fluency, vocal skills, and swallowing proficiency.
- Engage collaboratively with physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to formulate holistic care strategies.
- Provide educational resources and training to patients and their families to promote progress beyond the therapy sessions.
- Occasionally support inpatient therapy evaluations and treatments, ensuring smooth continuity throughout each patient's recovery journey.
- Keep precise documentation in line with relevant state, federal, and institutional guidelines.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in speech therapy through ongoing education and teamwork.
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not currently ASHA-certified.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
- Strong foundation in evidence-based treatment options across all age groups with a thorough grasp of developmental and acquired disorders of speech, language, and swallowing.
- Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Capability to tailor therapy methods to fit the unique cultural and linguistic backgrounds of patients.
- Sound clinical assessment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and adherence to documentation standards.
