Compensation for this non-exempt position is to be commensurate according to candidate's skills and experience level.

The position offers an attractive benefit package that includes medical insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, HMO and Health Savings plan options available), dental coverage, vision coverage, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability plans on the first of the month following the date of hire. Position Description

The Yard Specialist role is to assist with organizing inventory and supporting operations moving in and out of the space. The individual in this role ensures materials and vehicles are organized, safe, and moving efficiently. The Yard Specialist will report directly to the Director of Purchasing & Yard Operations.

Essential Duties

• Organize yard inventory such as lumber, pallets, pipes, equipment, or trailers. Ensure all items are easily accessible and safely stored.
• Assist customers and truck drivers in loading and unloading materials.
• Ability to operate forklifts or pallet jacks to assist in the movement of materials.
• Guide delivery trucks, customers, or employees while entering and exiting the yard.
• Ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicles and traffic flow.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing items, checking shipments for accuracy and damages.
• Verify that the orders being delivered match the paperwork.
• Maintain safety by keeping the yard clear of hazards and following safety rules to prevent accidents.
• Assist customers in finding materials.
• Accurately track inventory and update logs as needed.
• Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning equipment and organizing tools.

• • Lift, handle, and carry materials, equipment, and supplies as necessary up to 50 pounds.
  • Lift 50 pounds floor to waist, lift 50 pounds waist to shoulder, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Coordination necessary to operate computers and office equipment with pushbuttons and/or touch screens.

Hours of Employment:

Normal business operation hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ideal Headquarters at 2525 Clark Street in Detroit, MI.

Compensation:

The employee in the Yard Specialist role is non-exempt employee under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA"), 29 USC §§201, et Seq., and as a result thereof is entitled to accumulate or to be paid any compensatory time off or overtime.

Qualifications

• Chauffeur license and excellent driving record.
• CDL and a Hi-Lo license are preferred but not required.
