2026-2027 VISTA Leader: NeighborWorks America

NeighborWorks America partners with AmeriCorps to sponsor one of the largest AmeriCorps VISTA programs in the country. Our program fights poverty by building strong and empowered communities. The VISTA Leader will work a hybrid schedule reporting to NeighborWorks' headquarters in downtown Washington D.C. The NeighborWorks America network has been awarded the opportunity to place more than 20 VISTA members at NeighborWorks organizations across the United States, as well as a VISTA Leader. Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must have successfully completed at least one full term of AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps NCCC, or Peace Corps service prior to the start of service. This requirement is established by AmeriCorps and applies to all VISTA Leader positions. The VISTA Leader will support the NeighborWorks VISTA members in the field through programmatic responsibilities and peer mentorship. The NeighborWorks VISTA Program's primary areas of focus include: Financial Literacy, Housing, and Employment/Workforce Development. The VISTA Leader will provide support and technical assistance to VISTA members in the field to ensure that the objectives of the sites and the national program are met or exceeded. The VISTA Leader works closely with the Project Director who will provide ongoing guidance and development on the VISTA Leader's professional skills and on day-to-day operations. The VISTA Leader may have opportunities to travel for subsite monitoring visits, trainings, and attending other meetings. NeighborWorks America seeks qualified individuals who are passionate about community development, capacity building, and supporting organizations working to expand economic opportunity, housing stability, and financial well-being.

Member Duties : Support VISTA members serving with the NeighborWorks America network in having a successful service year. Provide resources and technical assistance, coordinate professional development opportunities, and offer peer mentorship to VISTA members across the country. Welcome VISTA members at the start of their service and provide them with critical tools, resources, and support. Throughout the service year engage with NeighborWorks America staff, site supervisors and VISTA members to deliver ongoing technical support and training opportunities. Organize and facilitate webinar presentations, coordinate networking activities, and deliver resources and support to VISTA members. Communicate the rules and regulations of the VISTA program to members and sites. Coach VISTA members, as needed, providing professional and personal support through check-in calls and responding to VISTA member concerns.
