This Lab Technician role involves conducting a wide range of physical and chemical tests, running wet chemistry procedures, and maintaining analytical laboratory equipment. The position focuses on performing titrations, colorimetric and gravimetric analyses, and general sample preparation while following established safety and hygiene plans. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex chemical and material science solutions that support personal care, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and industrial markets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical and chemical testing on a variety of samples in accordance with established laboratory methods and protocols.
• Perform wet chemistry procedures, including titrations, colorimetric analyses, and gravimetric testing, to generate accurate and reliable data.
• Carry out general sample preparation activities such as weighing, dissolving, diluting, filtering, and handling reagents and solutions.
• Calibrate analytical instruments and laboratory equipment to ensure accurate measurements and consistent performance.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and resolve routine technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
• Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments, following documented procedures and schedules.
• Adhere to laboratory safety and hygiene plans, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and materials.
• Document test procedures, observations, and results clearly and accurately in laboratory records or electronic systems.
• Collaborate with other lab team members to support ongoing projects in personal care, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and industrial applications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment that supports efficient and safe operations.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with laboratory-based physical and chemical testing.
• Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques, including titration methods and basic structures and reactivity concepts.
• Demonstrated experience performing titrations with a focus on accuracy and precision.
• Ability to perform colorimetric analyses and gravimetric testing using established methods.
• Knowledge of wet chemistry procedures such as distillation and solution preparation.
• Skill in calibrating, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety, hygiene, and chemical handling practices.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures and documented methods.
• Effective communication skills to document results and collaborate with team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory environment supporting personal care, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or industrial applications.
• Familiarity with material science concepts related to chemical formulations and testing.
• Ability to manage multiple tests and tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving routine instrument or method issues.
• Capability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and support shared laboratory goals.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory environment as part of a small team of four other members. The lab setting involves regular use of analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry equipment for testing and analysis. Team members work closely together on complex chemical and material science solutions that support personal care, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and industrial markets. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety and hygiene plans, proper chemical handling, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgewater, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
