Employee Packaging Job

The Employee Packaging is a production-focused role responsible for packing food products accurately in a dynamic central kitchen environment. This role functions as a general packaging role and supports multiple production lines by packing, labeling, weighing, and preparing products for storage and distribution. The position can be taught to individuals without prior experience and requires attention to detail, efficiency, and strict compliance with food safety standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Packing food products manually and/or using packaging equipment according to production standards
• Operating, starting, stopping, and regulating conveyor belts and basic packaging equipment as needed
• Inserting, pouring, portioning, and filling products into containers
• Weighing containers and adjusting quantities according to specifications
• Closing, sealing, labeling, and dating containers, packages, or products
• Cutting and portioning food as needed to fill containers correctly
• Packing special arrangements or product configurations as assigned
• Obtaining, sorting, and preparing packaging products and materials for production
• Meeting production schedules and deadlines while maintaining precision and quality

Support in Food Preparation includes:

• Washing, cutting, and cooking food items to a limited extent to support packaging operations
• Assisting with basic food handling and preparation before packaging

Sanitation and Safety includes:

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work area at all times
• Cleaning and disinfecting packaging equipment, tools, and workstations
• Performing dishwashing and cleaning tasks as required
• Complying with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
• Complying with Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres food safety and quality guidelines
• Reporting any safety risks, equipment issues, or quality concerns to supervisors promptly

General Responsibilities include:

• Working efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment
• Complying with all company policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the employee manual
• Meeting and exceeding company standards in food safety, quality, cleanliness, and productivity
• Performing other packaging or production-related tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience includes:

• No prior experience required; training will be provided
• Previous experience in food production, cooking, bakery, or manufacturing is useful but not mandatory

Language Skills include:

• Ability to understand, speak, read, and follow instructions in English or Spanish
• Ability to read basic recipes, labels, and safety instructions

Math Skills include:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers
• Ability to measure ingredients accurately using standard units of measurement

Reasoning Ability includes:

• Ability to follow written, verbal, and demonstrated instructions
• Ability to apply common sense to perform routine production tasks

Physical Demands include:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Use hands and fingers to manipulate, feel, and operate tools, equipment, and controls
• Reach with hands and arms; crouch, bend, kneel, squat, or crawl as necessary
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift heavier items
• Perform repetitive motions and physically demanding tasks
• Have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus

Work Environment includes:

• Production environment may include kitchens, bakeries, commissaries, and refrigerated areas
• Employee may regularly work in cold environments (approximately 41F or less)
• Noise levels may be moderate to high
• Exposure to heat, cold, moving mechanical parts, and kitchen equipment is common
