Mechanical Technician (Level 1)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Field Technician to provide on-site technical support at a customer location in Caledonia, MI. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment without the need for travel. As a customer-facing position, the technician will ensure high-quality service and support.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site repairs, maintenance, and general service tasks using basic hand tools.
• Conduct product demonstrations of basic mechanical equipment.
• Provide maintenance support and training to in-house maintenance staff when necessary.
• Offer technical guidance and expertise where applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School degree required; Associate degree in a technology field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, electronics) preferred.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical hand tools and principles.
• Proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use iPads for completing work orders, sending/receiving emails, and attending team calls.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
• Understanding of technical diagrams and manuals.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal direction.
• Adaptability to change and tight deadlines.
• Capability to work independently with little supervision.
• Good customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to reason, communicate, make cognitive decisions, and provide accurate results.
• Flexibility to work extended hours during the workweek and availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs., carry and lift tools and parts weighing up to 20 lbs., and push/pull a cart with equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Must be able to bend, squat, walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods.

Schedule

Must have flexibility to work extended hours during the workweek and be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
