Grounds WorkerNYU is hiring for a Grounds Worker Position in Greenwich Village, New York City. Base pay starts at $38/hr.SHIFT: Monday - Friday 5:00AM - 1:30PM Primarily responsible for maintaining the appearance, health, safety, and effectiveness of grounds, waste management, and recycling programs on NYU owned, leased, and licensed properties.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Good general knowledge of proper horticultural practices related to installation and maintenance of grounds including planting of herbaceous and woody plants, fertilization, pruning, and weed removal. Good general knowledge of plants indigenous to the Northeast. Good general knowledge of botanical nomenclature of native and commonly used exotic plant species. Good weed identification and removal skills. Good general knowledge of best practices in recycling, and NYU recycling policies in particular. Good general knowledge of best practices in composting food and garden waste. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a truck and a snowplow. Ability to safely operate power tools (e.g., mowers, tillers), to carry heavy loads, to dig a proper hole, and to work on ladders and scaffolds. Good communication skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: A good understanding of sustainable landscaping practices as they relate to soil, vegetation, and hydrology.In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $38.094. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts.
