We’re growing our team with a Service Specialist who thrives on solving mechanical challenges, delivering excellent customer experiences, and keeping facilities operating safely and smoothly. Whether you’ve been in the door trade for years or you’re just getting started, we’ll equip you to succeed.
What you’ll do- Install, service, and maintain commercial door systems across retail, commercial, and industrial environments.
- Troubleshoot and fix door components, including springs, hinges, locks, and associated electrical parts.
- Install and configure hardware—locks, handles, closers—and assist with access control setup.
- Confirm compliance with safety requirements and building codes on every job.
- Communicate clearly with customers, outline repair steps, and recommend cost‑effective solutions.
- Capture thorough documentation of work performed, measurements, parts, and follow‑ups.
- Conduct final quality checks to meet Vortex workmanship standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of commercial door experience is a plus (not required)
- Knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware is a plus
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude, diagnostic mindset, and strong problem‑solving skills
- Ability to read a tape measure, take precise measurements, and work confidently with fractions
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail with a commitment to quality
- Working knowledge of safety practices and the discipline to follow them
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend and lift repeatedly, climb ladders up to 20’, work on knees for extended periods, and operate power tools proficiently
- Structured training path covering:
- Commercial/retail door openings, hardware, and storefront glazing
- Manual doors and dock equipment for industrial openings
- Hollow metal doors, frames, and hardware
- Safety‑first culture, positive team environment, and recognition for great work

- Full‑time between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; overtime and on‑call as needed.
