Structural Engineer - PE Licensed | Virginia

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team and take ownership of projects from the proposal phase through construction administration.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Virginia-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who enjoys hands-on project involvement, technical design, and collaboration with architects, contractors, and clients.

What You'll Do

• Lead structural engineering projects from proposal through construction administration

• Prepare structural design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analyses, and construction cost estimates

• Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of commercial and residential projects

• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs

• Conduct periodic construction site observations

• Perform occasional specialized structural inspections

• Collaborate closely with architects, designers, contractors, and other project stakeholders

• Apply applicable building codes and engineering standards throughout the design and construction process

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering , or equivalent experience

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia - Required

• Strong experience with AutoCAD

• Proficiency with structural analysis/design software such as Enercalc, RISA , or similar

• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including:

  • IBC

  • IRC

  • ACI 318

  • NDS

  • AISC

  • AISI

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage projects independently with appropriate oversight

• Comfortable working onsite initially , with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule over time

Experience That Will Stand Out

Experience with smaller commercial and residential projects , particularly wood-frame construction , is highly valued.
