STATIONARY ENGINEER

Stationary Engineer – Plant Operations – Metropolitan State Hospital – Various Salary Range: $6,088.00 – $7,707.00 (Annual) Responsibilities Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and distribution lines for steam and heated or processed water. Operate, repair, and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, float valves, and refrigerant lines and devices. Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors and associated control devices. Operate, maintain, and repair natural and manufactured gas distribution lines and manufacturing systems, including valves and control devices. Operate, repair, and maintain water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps for water distribution, including sinks, toilet bowls, supply lines, and water lines. Operate, repair, and maintain motors and engines that power pumps, compressors, and fans. Repair and maintain single‑phase and multi‑phase electrical circuits up to 550 volts. Repair and maintain electrical transformers, motors, controls, machinery fixtures, appliances, elevators. Repair and maintain electronic systems such as clocks, closed‑circuit television, alarm systems, security systems, energy management systems, grounding, and power transfer systems. Calibrate control systems for air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation, including air balance, humidistat, and solid‑state motor control amplifiers. Operate, maintain, and repair water and sewage systems, laundry, bakery, and culinary equipment. Inspect and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems to identify required repairs. Perform minor building maintenance and repair. Plan layouts and estimate costs of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems. Requisition parts, supplies, and equipment. Calculate system requirements to provide estimates for modification or replacement of systems. Lead and train subordinate and less senior personnel and advise them of unusual problems, procedures, and practices. Schedule AM Shift : Tuesday‑Saturday (Tue‑Fri 7:30 am‑4:15 pm; Sat 6:30 am‑3:15 pm) PM Shift : Monday‑Friday 5:00 pm‑1:30 am Eligibility and Examination Applicants must have eligibility by way of permanent civil service status, be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility. If you do not have eligibility, you must take the required Stationary Engineer Examination, which is a separate process from applying for this vacancy.
