About the Position

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medicine Specialty Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support Must-Have: - MS/SD experience - ICU experience preferred Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and their families, sharing care plans during hospitalization and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Refers patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services while applying nursing techniques is important. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Basic computer skills are required.
