The Judicial Branch is unable to provide visa sponsorship (i.e. H-1B visa etc.).
The Systems Administrator supports, maintains, and improves the IT infrastructure across servers, identity systems, endpoints, cloud services, backups, and core business applications that support the operations of the Justice Courts and the Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County. This role requires strong Windows administration experience, solid troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support both daily operations and long-term infrastructure improvements.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience in an IT-related support/analyst field may substitute on a year-for-year basis
Our Preferred Candidate has:
Three (3) or more years of experience in a systems administrator role within an enterprise environment.
Experience with Citrix Netscaler, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, VMWare, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
Experience administering Microsoft Azure cloud environments, including virtual machines, storage, and identity services
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, and Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) for endpoint provisioning, policy management, and compliance enforcement
Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) including privileged identity management, application integration, and hybrid identity management across on-premises Active Directory and Entra ID
Familiarity with on-premises server infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and Group Policy Objects (GPO)
Experience with VMware Virtualization Platform for managing virtual infrastructure
Exposure to enterprise monitoring and alerting tools
Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms and ticketing workflows (e.g., InvGate, ServiceNow, or similar)
Experience using AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and operational tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Understanding of IT security principles, patch management, and endpoint compliance
Experience in a justice or law enforcement environment.

Essential Job Tasks

Monitor the health and performance of servers, endpoints, and cloud resources; respond to alerts and resolve incidents in a timely manner
Builds, configures, deploys, administers, performs backups, upgrades, and maintains virtual and physical servers.
Participate in IT change management processes; document and communicate planned changes following established CTS procedures to support capacity planning
Perform routine server and infrastructure maintenance including patching, backup verification, capacity planning, ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Reviews application logs and resolves issues.
Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
Maintain system documentation including configuration baselines and runbooks; support adoption of CTS’s in-house documentation platform currently in development by the Product Delivery team including hardware and software deployment and maintenance plans.
Develops and provides formal and informal instruction to staff.
Develops and maintains written documentation related to processes, procedures, and system specifications.
Manage and expand the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including VM provisioning, storage management, and identity integrations
Deploy, configure, and maintain endpoint management solutions using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM), including compliance policies, app deployment, and configuration profiles
Manage Microsoft Entra ID including privileged identity management, conditional access policies (hybrid), and application integration in coordination with on-premises Active Directory
Coordinate with the Network team on connectivity requirements; support server-side configuration changes related to network-dependent services
Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint; resolve end-user issues and maintain tenant configurations
Manage and support VMware virtualization environments, including VM provisioning, snapshots, and resource management
Collaborate with the InfoSec team to ensure endpoint compliance, vulnerability remediation, and adherence to security hardening standards
Provide Tier 3 escalation support for infrastructure and systems-related incidents submitted through the help desk
Assist in evaluating new technologies and contribute to proof-of-concept efforts aligned with the CTS infrastructure roadmap
Working conditions:
Job requires participation in a 24X7 on-call rotation that requires the addressing of critical issues at various locations throughout Maricopa County. Mostly an office setting in high volume, fast-paced environment. Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
