As a Middle Market Senior Underwriter, you’ll be at the center of that mission—joining a team recognized across the industry for delivering tailored coverage that empowers our customers to pursue their goals with confidence.What You’ll DoAs a Middle Market Senior Underwriter, you’ll manage a diverse book of Property & Casualty business and serve as a trusted advisor to brokers and agents. You’ll drive profitable growth through strategic account management, underwriting expertise, and strong agency relationships.Key Responsibilities:Manage and underwrite a Middle Market book of businessAnalyze agency performance quarterly to identify trends and opportunitiesApply underwriting guidelines to assess and price complex risks with minimal oversightMaintain deep knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and governanceLead agency management strategies, including new business development and renewal planningExecute territory and agency sales plans aligned with business goalsServe as a consultative partner to brokers and agents, delivering solutions that meet client needsWhat Sets You ApartA customer-first mindset and collaborative approachStrong analytical thinking and sound judgmentEntrepreneurial spirit with a drive to challenge the status quoAbility to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentCommitment to delivering outcomes and owning your workQualifications2+ years of P&C Middle Market, broker-facing carrier underwriting experience (required)Proven success in building and maintaining strong business relationshipsExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsSuperior technical knowledge and decision-making abilityBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceValid driver’s license (company pool car may be provided)Depending on experience this role can be hired at various Underwriting levels.CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
