Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Must-Have: Graduate from an approved school of nursing with a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse.


Description:
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the performance of basic nursing duties.
Duties include execution of physician orders and operation of pill call.
The position requires operation of sick call and assisting the physician in examinations and treatments.
Performs technical and clinical procedures within the scope of his/her license.
Assists in the professional management of the medical department.
Applies appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of patients.
Attends sick call with the physician to see patients.
Prepares a list of patients to be examined and the examining room and equipment.
Operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by applicable policies.
Controls medication, syringes, and other medical supplies or equipment as established by procedures.
Performs emergency procedures as needed.
Keeps equipment and work area clean and utilizes appropriate sanitation methods.
Documents and reports activities in accordance with established policies, including medical file documentation.
Assists supervisor with evaluating the provision of all medical services.
Maintains absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records.
Observes and records patient behavior.
Inspects the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband.
Assists with preparing and maintaining a variety of standard records, reports, and logs.
Enhances communication with administration, staff, patients, visitors, and the general public.
Helps evaluate and recommend physical safety requirements for a safe working environment.
Facilitates accreditation of the medical program by providing efficient and approved medical services.
Prepares and disseminates safety and accident reports as required by policies.
Escorts patients or coordinates their movement for medical treatment.
Initiates and completes investigations and inquiries accurately, gathering information and evidence.
Engages in functions in confined areas, including working rotating shifts.
Maintains awareness that verbal abuse may be present in an antagonistic environment.
