Principal Systems Engineer Software Integration

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with a strong software focus for System Integration efforts in support of our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. The ideal candidate will be someone who can independently develop system verification strategy, demonstrate the behaviors to effectively communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and work in a visible and proactive manner across organizational boundaries to deliver positive results. This role is fit for someone who can be a highly engaging, team-oriented, problem solving, and self-starting individual able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment.

As a Principal Systems Engineer for System Integration, your responsibilities span engineering technical authority and customer relationship management including:

Engineering Technical Competence

• Support the development and execution of the System Integration strategy. Perform system integration activities including the integration of digital models and software interfaces
• Act as a software SME for the Systems Integration team. Collaborate with internal and external partners to translate high-level system objectives into actionable steps to integrate the Navy weapon system
• Develop and execute independent Integration activities based on subsystem interface integration methods and generate design maturity, compatibility, and interoperability reports
• Ensure engineering outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met
• Develop and present technical documentation, data, presentations, and white paper submissions to chief engineers for approval and then to the customers

Customer Relationship Management

• Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with SES, GS-15, and GS-14 level US Navy customers/clients to solve technical problems and implement solutions of extremely high complexity
• Support the customer in the execution of the Systems Integration process including Systems Engineering Technical Reviews
• Works closely with the customer to translate objectives into actionable plans and measurable deliverables

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related technical field.

Additional skills/experience required:

• 6 years experience supporting large DoD programs
• Experience with major weapon system development product lifecycle and technologies
• Experience integrating software systems and software/hardware systems.
• Experience with integration of models, software, and hardware
• Understanding of the end-to-end System Engineering lifecycle
• Experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience presenting project status to management and/or the customer
• Willing to travel approximately 10% of the time
• Must possess strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
• Proficiency with C++ and Python
• Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• MS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science related field
• Experience developing software architecture for multiple software development teams
• Proficiency with Fortran
• Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities.
• Experience with various engineering tools / languages including PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, 2D/3D CAD, SysML, Github, and/or MATLAB Simulink
• Experience with strategic deterrence and/or missile defense systems and missions

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118095 - $200762

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
