About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:
Electrification and Automation (EA) offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for the Utility and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) markets. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. The product portfolio includes but is not limited to medium voltage switchgear (AIS & GIS), Outdoor Circuit Breakers, MV Control, Power Equipment Centers, Overhead distribution products, low voltage motor control centers, photovoltaic (PV) Inverters, and ancillary MV and LV products that are routinely part of complete electrical packaged solutions in substations, power plants, and renewable energy power generation. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!
We are looking for a Business Development Manager. This position is a remote based role for the Midwest/Great Lakes region.
You’ll make an impact by:
The BDM position is responsible for selling field service and modernization solutions to industrial, utility, and commercial vertical markets within the Midwest/Great Lakes region (MI, IN, IL, OH, KY, WI, MN, MO, IA, NE, SD, ND).
Lead Sales & Achieve Quota: Establish and lead sales initiatives to meet bookings quota for Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Electrification & Automation - Customer Services (SI EA CS) across the south-central region.
Drive Market Share Growth: Expand market share by developing opportunity pipelines, executing strategic account planning, and penetrating new customer accounts across industrial, utility, and commercial verticals.
Proactive Customer Engagement: Engage early with target customers to influence technical specifications, drive acceptance of Siemens solutions, and identify opportunities through site walks.
Present & Up-sell Solutions: Present the full-service portfolio, provide accurate commercial proposals, and collaborate to up-sell service and modernization solutions.
Strategic Sales Process: Lead strategic engagement in proposal and sales processes, fostering collaboration across multiple Siemens sales channels.
Manage Sales Pipeline & Forecast: Develop and execute strategic booking plans, maintain clean forecasting of opportunity pipelines, and present monthly sales pipelines using the SI-wide CRM tool.
Generate Demand & Leads: Actively hunt for service sales leads, assist in demand generation for service portfolios on active projects, and promote the full-service offering.
Support Product & Provide Training: Contribute to Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM) for future product development and provide comprehensive training on the SI EA CS portfolio to customers and internal sales channels.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or business
5+ years’ experience in sales or business development selling industrial equipment services or power distribution equipment
Knowledge of power distribution equipment and application within a variety of market segments.
Experience with commercial contract negotiations.
Command of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, for detailed financial analysis and business evaluation with working knowledge of related office suite products required.
Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 40% of the time, domestically as required.
Legally authorized to work in the USA without company sponsored VISA now or future
Preferred Qualifications:
A “Hunter’s” drive and motivation to win orders (this is not an account maintenance role)
Consistent record or capability for account management, forecast, sales process management, and successful quota attainment in a complex sales environment across multiple product lines.
Demonstrated negotiating skills, conflict management skills, accountability, and having the ability to work though others when required.
Possess persuasive presentation and effective communications skills (written and verbal), motivation, and creativity to develop dynamic solutions to unique customer opportunities.
Position is eligible for FAVR vehicle reimbursement program to compensate for local travel.
High self-motivated, a self-starter, and can effectively work in an organizational matrix environment.
