Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable

Accounting SpecialistThe Accounting Specialist supports the finance department by processing invoices, maintaining vendor records, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. Employment duties include, but are not limited to:Process invoices, check requests, and reimbursementsVerify coding, approvals, and supporting documentationMatch invoices to purchase orders and receiptsMaintain vendor files and assist with vendor onboardingRespond to basic vendor inquiriesHelp resolve invoice discrepanciesAssist with digital document management (scanning, indexing)Support month-end tasks such as invoice accrualsReconcile basic financial dataPerform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned by direct supervisorThe knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role include:Strong attention to detailCustomer service mind-setAbility to work with repetitive tasks accuratelyClear communication with vendors and campus departmentsBasic Excel skills (sorting, filtering, formulas, etc.)Familiarity with ERP or accounting softwareDemonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion through both the completion of job duties and with interaction with othersSupport the University's Mission and Values in their role.Required qualifications:Education: High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred0 – 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office experienceDesire to join a distinct university community committed to inclusive excellence, kindness, and collaboration, as it seeks to move Forward Together in making our community and world a better place.Ideal candidate qualifications:Accounting experience in higher education or non-profit settingEllucian Banner/Argos experience preferredExperience supporting external audits and preparing year-end 1099 reportingExperience in high-volume transaction environmentHybrid work location available, at the discretion of the supervisor. Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours, and some travel may be required. Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position.
