Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Client License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have New York license in hand. Epic charting experience required. Description: The position is for a registered nurse in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry specialty. The role involves caring for acute stroke patients and those with neurological disorders, as well as providing care for acute medical patients. The unit practices an adjustable acuity delivery of care model. Nurses are expected to provide evidence-based care during the primary prevention and acute care phases of a stroke. The nurse will be required to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7. Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and emergency response. Nurses will interpret and manage dysrhythmias. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills are necessary for peripheral line care and management. Respiratory care includes using nasal cannulas and oxygen face masks. Non-invasive airway management skills are also required. Isolation precautions must be observed at all times. The facility is a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds. The scrub color is any combination of navy and white. Every other weekend coverage is expected. First time travelers are accepted. Candidates must be within a 75-mile radius of the facility. Nurses will be expected to float to other units as necessary.
