The Director of Real Estate & Engineering Facilities will lead the global strategy and operational management of MiniMed’s facilities, real‑estate portfolio, engineering infrastructure, standards, and change control processes, supporting GMP manufacturing, warehousing, laboratories, distribution, and back‑office environments. About the Role The Director partners closely with Integrated Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Finance, Commercial, Sales, HR, IT, and corporate leadership to develop and execute facility strategies that enable operational performance, optimize space utilization, and support long‑term business needs. The role also oversees capital projects, facilities engineering initiatives, and vendor partnerships across the facilities portfolio. Responsibilities Lead the global real‑estate and facilities strategy for manufacturing, distribution, and corporate sites to ensure operational readiness, scalability, and cost efficiency. Oversee facilities engineering, utilities, maintenance programs, and infrastructure reliability to ensure uninterrupted operations across sites. Establish governance and oversight for facilities capital investments, including expansion projects, infrastructure upgrades, and workplace modernization initiatives. Manage operational aspects of ongoing facilities and infrastructure projects; liaise between project management, planning teams, project teams, and operational leadership. Review project status, budgets, and schedules; prepare executive‑level reports on capital projects, facilities upgrades, and infrastructure investments. Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction objectives. Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and implement intervention strategies to address risks, delays, and operational challenges. Partner with Manufacturing and Integrated Supply Chain leadership to align facilities capabilities with production ramp plans, product transfers, and operational growth strategies. Lead long‑term real‑estate planning, site capacity modeling, and facilities portfolio optimization across the organization. Ensure facilities operations comply with regulatory standards, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and industry best practices applicable to medical device manufacturing. Collaborate with EHS and Quality teams to maintain safe, compliant, and audit‑ready facilities. Oversee vendor management for facilities services, engineering contractors, real‑estate partners, and construction firms. Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization across facilities operations through vendor management, asset lifecycle planning, and process improvement initiatives. Lead and develop a high‑performing facilities and engineering team across multiple locations, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Support manufacturing site expansions, technology upgrades, and operational transformation initiatives. Organizational Impact The Director provides leadership for the organization’s facilities engineering and real‑estate portfolio supporting global manufacturing and operational sites. The role establishes long‑term infrastructure strategies, oversees capital investment planning, and ensures operational reliability of critical facility systems. It also supports manufacturing expansion, product transfer readiness, and operational capacity planning. Qualifications Must Have Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in facilities engineering, real‑estate management, construction management, infrastructure operations, or capital project leadership (or an advanced degree with 8+ years). 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams, major capital projects, or multi‑site facilities operations. Nice to Have Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related discipline. Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP). Experience leading large‑scale infrastructure or facilities capital programs. Strong knowledge of facilities operations, engineering systems, utilities infrastructure, and capital project execution. Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or advanced manufacturing. Experience leading multi‑site global facilities operations. Experience supporting manufacturing expansion, product transfers, or large‑scale ramp‑ups. Experience driving sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency programs, and smart facilities technologies. Leadership Expectations Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business priorities into facilities and infrastructure strategies. Strong cross‑functional leadership and ability to influence stakeholders across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, finance, and executive leadership. Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Travel Up to 25–30% travel to support global sites, infrastructure projects, and facilities operations. Salary ranges for U.S. locations (USD) are $167,000 – $285,000. For selected locations (California, Seattle, Washington DC, Boston, New York City) the range is $186,000 – $316,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, and geographic location.
