Located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is a multi-service animal hospital offering general practice, specialty services, 24/7 emergency care, boarding, grooming, daycare, and rehabilitation. What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Emergency Technician at HVSH, you’ll be on the front line of urgent patient care, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In this role, you will:

• Triage incoming patients by assessing their medical needs and prioritizing treatments based on urgency.
• Provide immediate critical care —administer fluids, medications, and other life-saving interventions while closely monitoring patient status.
• Collaborate with emergency veterinarians and fellow technicians to devise and execute treatment plans for a variety of acute and complex cases.
• Communicate compassionately with pet parents , offering clear updates, reassurance, and empathy during stressful moments.
• Maintain a calm, organized workspace and ensure rapid access to the supplies and equipment needed for emergency interventions.
• Participate in ongoing training and case discussions , sharpening your skills and staying current with the latest emergency protocols and best practices.

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following available schedule:

• 4 - 10 hour shifts
• Shifts range from 6a-9p
• Some weekend availability needed

Compensation

• Starting at $21/hr.

• Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting , with a proven ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
• Effective communication for liaising with both clinical staff and concerned pet parents, especially in urgent or high-stress scenarios.
• Confidence in triage and rapid assessment , recognizing subtle changes in patient condition and acting decisively.
• A commitment to collaboration —you’re at your best when working with a supportive team to provide the highest level of care.
