Museum Curator

Museum Curator Supervisor (NS)
Administrate and supervise education branch and staff at the NCMM at Beaufort. Supervise educational branch staff in curatorial level technical work in secondary/teaching collections, taxonomic identification, exhibit implementation, publication writing and proofing, in developing and implementing programming and special events that are part of educational branch responsibilities. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervising staff
- Developing, presenting, and evaluating educational programming
- Oversight of programming and outreach
- Managing budgets and long-range planning
- Serves on leadership team
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Qualified candidates must have or be able to:
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of educational programming.
- Knowledge of history, maritime history, culture, and/or related marine education.
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking and/or programming.
- Demonstrated experience training and/or managing staff.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting.
Position/Physical Requirements
Monday–Friday, 8am to 5pm
Ability to lift 30 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license within 90 days of employment.
This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under DNCR's Telework Policy.

Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in biology, education, history, museum studies, zoology, or a curriculum related to area of expertise from an appropriately accredited institution, and six years of experience in assigned specialty area, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
